The Marin County Sheriff’s Department in California
confirmed that Afeni Shakur, mother of rap legend
Tupac Shakur died late Monday night.
The 69-year-old suffered a heart attack at her home in
the San Francisco suburb of Sausalito on May 2. She
was rushed to a local hospital at around 9:30 p.m. and
was pronounced dead one hour later.
Afeni, opened the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation and
the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts in Stone
Mountain in 1997 and resided in the area.
The cause of death is yet to be announced.
