SPORTS : Zlatan Ibrahimovic Set For Man United Free Transfer

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has agreed to join Manchester
United on a free transfer this summer following his
departure from Paris Saint Germain, according to a
report from Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.
Ibrahimovic will likely link up with former coach Jose
Mourinho at Old Trafford, coming in as a player on a
short-term contract. However, the report also claims
that he is being lined up to become Mourinho’s
assistant manager later down the line at Old Trafford.
The 34-year-old has confirmed he will be leaving Paris
after four years in the French capital and there have
been frequent reports of which club the Swedish
superstar could end up at.

Flavour Loses To Shatta Wale At Ghana Face - Off, But Olamide, Harrysong Saves Nigeria ’ s Face

The 2016 edition of the much anticpated Ghana’s
annual music face-off event tagged ‘Tigo GhanaMeets
Naija’ has finally held.
The event sees a number of a-list musicians from
Ghana and Nigeria going off against each other and
showcasing their amazing talent and musical prowess,
it was the entire Mavin Records crew that represented
Nigeria in the last edition but this latest edition had
Flavour, Harrysong and Olamide reprsenting Naija.
The event which held at the Accra International
Conference Center, saw winning the heart of the
audience, until Flavour was pitted against Shatta Wale.
It can be recalled that Flavour had bragged confidently
about beating the Ghanaian singer.
“I hope he [ Shatta Wale] is ready, he should bring it
on…I have seen him perform and I know he has lots of
energy but I will be ‘flavouring’ everywhere,” the ‘Ada
Ada’ crooner had said in an interview, adding, “I have
played and performed with my band and we have had
lots of rehearsals as to how to get the people dancing
and I have been working on my dance moves too”.
At the event, Flavourw as the last act of the night, a
tragedy many people would later agree, because after
Shatta Wale was done with his as usual electrifying
performance, the audience began to pack up, leaving
Flavour with only a measly, kind crowd. Flavour, sadly,
lost.
However, Nigeria still emerged the winner, and it’s all
thanks to Harrysong who beat Ghana’s Pappy Kojo
during the first round, and Olamide who won the heart of
Ghana in the second round, beating rapper EL.

EFCC Declares Sen . Iyiola Omisore Wanted Over N 700 m Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
has on Tuesday declared wanted former Deputy
Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore.
He is wanted by the commission in connection with
misappropriation of over N700million from the office of
the National Security Adviser, between June and
November 2014.
Omisore has been elusive and refused to report to the
Commission after invitation was extended to him on
April 7, 2016 requesting him “to come and make
clarification on the ongoing investigation”.

Tiwa Savage Set To Sign With Jay Z ’ s Roc Nation

Tiwa Savage is set to sign up with Roc Nation.
The singer has had mix fortunes this year, gaining on
the job by promoting her sophomore album “R.E.D”, but
has suffered tribulations on the home front with her
marital problems involving her husband.
But there’s another high point of her year as according
to a report from UrbanView, the Mavin Records singer is
set to ink a deal with Jay Z’s ROC Nation. The deal, an
international management deal, is already in place.
According to sources at Roc Nation, US rap mogul, Jay
Z, is impressed by Tiwa’s catalogue and profile, and
sanctioned the signing yesterday (May 24, 2016). It was
put together by Roc Nation’s Briant Biggs and Shawn
Pecas.
Tiwa Savage is also scheduled for a performance at the
Made in America concert in September, where Rihanna
is listed as the headliner. Roc Nation has offices in New
York, London and Los Angeles, and is home to popular
artistes such as Rihanna, Big Sean, DJ Khaled, among
others.
Tiwa Savage is currently signed to Mavin Records, with
two albums, and a string of hit songs.

SPORT : Manchester United To Unveil Mourinho On Tuesday

Jose Mourinho is set to become the next manager of
Manchester United, with talks due to take place early
next week, according to Sky sources.
Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes is due to fly to England
from China on Tuesday to negotiate a deal that would
see the the 53-year-old Portuguese replace Louis van
Gaal.
Van Gaal’s United side won the FA Cup on Saturday by
defeating Crystal Palace 2-1 after extra time at
Wembley.
United stayed in London on Saturday night and have no
plans for a victory parade in Manchester, with the club
believed to be angry that news of Mourinho’s potential
appointment overshadowed the club’s first FA Cup win
since 2004 and first piece of silverware since the
departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Mourinho has been out of work since being sacked by
Chelsea last November after overseeing the Blues’
worst start to a Premier League campaign.
Van Gaal refused to comment on his future following
the match, which looks set to be his last in charge,
saying: “I show you the cup. I don’t discuss [my future]
with the media.”
Van Gaal has previously insisted that he would see out
the last year of his contract, despite his side failing to
secure a top four spot and Champions League football
for next season.
The 64-year-old has invested over £250m on new
players during his two-year reign at Old Trafford, but a
fifth-place finish means United will play in the Europa
League during the 2016-17 campaign.

Nigeria Labor Unions Call Off Strike Over Fuel Price Hike

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called off its
nationwide strike.
The action which was taken on Wednesday failed to
gain much traction.
Speaking with journalists on Sunday, Ayuba Wabba
president of the NLC, said that the union decided to
suspend the action after making wide consultations.
“After an exhaustive deliberation, NEC noted its protest
action was informed by the twin issues of the
unjustified and illegal hike in electricity tariff and
increase in the pump price of petroleum products,”he
said.
“In consideration of the above, NEC after due
consultation with its constituents resolved to suspend
with immediate effect, the action it commenced on
Wednesday, May 18, 2016. The action is thus hereby
suspended.”
According to Wabba, the union resolved to resume
negotiations with the government on the new petrol
price regime.
After unfruitful negotiations with the government over
the increase in the price of petrol from N86.5 to N145,
the NLC embarked on a nationwide industrial action and
protests.
But the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and a faction of the
NLC led by Joe Ajaero pulled out of the action.
The decision of the NLC is coming just two days after
Bola Tinubu, national leader of the All Progressives
Congress (APC), appealed to the union to suspend the
action.

Militants Blow Up NNPC Pipelines In Warri, Delta State

Sahara Reporters has learned that militants near Ogbe-
Ijoh in Warri South West Local Government Area (LGA)
have blown up another section of the Nigerian National
Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipeline.
Sahara Reporters reliably learned that the incident,
which occurred at the early hours of Friday morning,
was carried out by militants armed with dynamite and
other dangerous weapons.
Confirming the incident, a traditional ruler in the area,
who pleaded for anonymity, disclosed that houses in his
area were shaken to their foundation from the blast.
He stressed that in his opinion the militants responsible
are not only harming the nation but the next generation
of unborn Nigerians.
The traditional ruler also said that he believed the
explosion was significant enough that it would be a set
back in oil production for the country.
Sahara Reporters attempted to reach Colonel Isa Ado,
the spokesman for the Joint Task Force, but he was
unavailable to give official confirmation.
However, other anonymous military sources with
knowledge of the area confirmed the blast.

Buhari Anti - corruption Adviser Steps Down

Under fire, Benedicta Daudu, a member of the Advisory
Committee against Corruption set up by President
Buhari is currently embroiled in an examination
malpractice scandal and has resigned from the
committee after an exclusive story by the Premium
Times.
The executive secretary of the committee, Bolaji
Owasanoye, in a text message said she voluntarily
stepped down from the committee until the matter is
officially concluded.
According to a report by Premium Times, Mrs Daudu, an
associate professor of law and head of the Department
of Jurisprudence and International Law of the Faculty of
Law in University of Jos (UNIJOS), was allegedly caught
cheating while writing an examination for a Master’s
degree in Research and Public Policy in the same
university.
With a Masters in Law, she was working towards
another in Research and Public Policy.
She was accused by the department of sneaking in
prepared answers during the examination for Global
Context in Public Policy course.

Sad Story Of Nigerian International Football Star Who Can No Longer Boast Of N 5 , 000

Former Super Eagles player, Femi Opabunmi, who has fallen
from grace to grass. The Oyo state born player who was a
member of the Super Eagles squad to the Japan 2002 World
Cup under Coach Adegboye Onigbinde is now penniless and
gradually  going blind.
According to Saturday SUN, Opabunmi last played for
Shooting Stars of Ibadan in the local scene. He played for a
few clubs abroad, including Grasshoppers Zurich
(Switzerland) and Chamois Niortais in France.
He was in fact the 3rd youngest player to ever play in the
World Cup finals after Norman Whiteside and Samuel Eto’o.
At the 2001 FIFA U-17 World Championship, Trindad and
Tobago, Opabunmi scored a hat-trick against Australia and
won himself the Silver Shoe as second highest goal scorer
and also the Bronze Ball as third best player in the
tournament.
In 2008, he went on an eye surgery and has not played
professional football since then.
In December 2006, as he was training one day, he suddenly
felt a sharp pain in his eyes. And he could not see the ball
again. His vision became blurred and he decided to see an
optician. He was told that in a few days he could be blind if
he did not have surgery. He went for it and the surgeon said
it was a success.
He was expecting to see again, but there was no
improvement. He visited the doctor and other hospitals in
Paris without a solution. And they told him that his problem
was a complex case.
That began Opabunmi’s journey to partial blindness and
financial misery. Today, the player who was one of the large
hearted players in the Eagles says he cant even afford
N5,000 of his own, unlike when in his playing days, he
bought cars for some people out of charity.
Although he admitted things are tough for him now, he
insisted that he does not beg on the streets of
Ibadan, his hometown.
Enjoy the Excerpts of this exclusive interview the SUN had
with him;
Are you still playing football now?
No I am not playing any longer because of my sight
problem.

What happened?

When I was experiencing an eye problem, I reported to a
Doctor who diagnosed it and said I had to go for an
operation.
After the operation I noticed that I have lost one of my eyes.
And I started going for medical check-up. I was told that the
problem was becoming complicated.

Right now, you can only see with one eye?

Yes, I can now see with only one eye. The other one has
gone totally blind.

What are you doing at the moment?

I must tell you I am not doing anything at the moment. I
want to gather my self back, now I do one or two things to
put body and soul together.
I also want to finish my coaching course so that I get back
on my feet.

It was once reported that Femi Opabunmi was seen on
Ibadan streets begging; how true is this?

It is not true that I go about Ibadan streets begging. I don’t
go out, I normally stay indoors, so those who said they had
seen me begging are making a mole out of the mountain. It
is not true to be honest with you. But I always go to my
friends, we sit together, we laugh and talk things over.
And I don’t know where they have seen me begging on the
street. I have a brother, sister and my mum is there also. At
least they are doing something. If I have course to beg for
anything, I can go to them.
They can ‘raise me up’ if they have. I don’t know where
people got the story they are writing that Opabunmi turns to
beggar. I think it is tarnishing one’s image.

But Femi is it true that things are very tough for you at the
moment?

Yes things are tough for me at the moment, but not for
people to say Opabunmi turns to a beggar . God forbid,
Opabunmi is not a beggar. I reject that in Jesus name.
Things are hard for me but not up to that extent.
You can imagine someone who was dashing people money
before, buying cars for people and now I can hardly count
five Thousand Naira of my own. It’s that bad for me now.

What is your advise to football administrators concerning
those who are still playing and those who have retired from
the game?

They should be honest and truthful with players, especially
in the area of players’ bonus. If it is 10 Pounds they are
giving them, they should stick to it and not say one thing
and do another.
If they promise any remuneration for players they should
ensure these players get it. I also want players to learn
from my mistake. I had money .
I was borrowing people money . Friends were always around
me, but today, it is past tense.

China Denies “ Marinating Dead Bodies ” And Selling Them As Meat In Africa . ( Photos )

The Republic of China has been forced to deny claims
that it is marinating dead bodies, canning them and
selling them as a meat product in Africa, after a bizarre
Facebook hoax went viral.
Rumours of the alleged trade in human meat first began
circulating on social media thanks to a series of
photographs of what appeared to be skinned people in a
meat factory.

Zambian press was accused of encouraging the
rumours, after publishing articles that quoted alleged
sources from inside the Chinese meat factories.
According to the alleged sources, the idea to use human
meat came when China ran out of space to dispose of
its dead.
Others claimed Beijing preferred to save its ‘ good meat ‘
for richer, more powerful countries.
But China’s ambassador to Zambia has issued a
furious denial of the allegations.

Today a local tabloid newspaper is openly
spreading a rumour, claiming that the
Chinese use human meat to make corned
beef and sell it to Africa,’ said Yang Youming,
according to China’s Xinhua news agency.
‘This is completely a malicious slandering
and vilification which is absolutely
unacceptable to us. We hereby express our
utmost anger and the strongest
condemnation over such an act.’
He reportedly claimed that the rumours were being
circulated by ‘ people with ulterior motives were attempting
to destroy the long-standing partnership between Zambia
and China ’.

Buhari Sacks Executive Secretary Of NCPC , John Opara

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the dismissal
of John Opara, executive secretary of the Nigerian Christian
Pilgrims Commission (NCPC). Babachir Lawal, secretary to
the government of the federation, disclosed this in a
statement, saying the decision took effect from Thursday.
“His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has
in the exercise of his powers, approved the disengagement
of Mr. John Kennedy Opara as the Executive Secretary of
the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission with effect from
Thursday May 19 2016”, the statement read.
“Mr. President, however, thanked him for his invaluable
services to the nation and wishes him well in his future
endeavours.”

Justin Bieber Sued For Shunning A Show

Despite tendering his apology on Twitter, Justin Bieber
has been sued in Montreal by a promotional company
that says he destroyed its biz with one little tweet.
The promoter, Team Productions, says they had a deal
for Justin to do an appearance at Beach Club last
August. Bieber was supposed to do a couple songs and
then hang out with fans — but the event was scrapped.
Team Productions says it paid Bieber $250k when he
signed the deal, and promised another $175k right
before the event. But Team Produuction says it noticed
Justin wasn’t pumping up the gig on his social media …
as the contract required him to do.
The promoter says Justin demanded they pay the rest
of the money or he wouldn’t show, but since Justin
wasn’t plugging, Team Productions wanted a discount.
Negotiations started, but failed … leading Justin to tweet
on the morning of the event he would be bagging
out because the promoter lied.
The Team Production didn’t have the $175k balance
when it came time to pay, even though it had been
using Justin’s name to promote. Team Production
insists it had the cash, but just wanted the cut
rate,TMZ reports.
Team Productions says it’s been branded a liar and as a
result no one wants to work with them. They want at
least $650k in damages.

slammed Donald Trump’s comments against Muslim,
saying the billionaire’s stance did not match her vision

Trump said in December last year that Muslims should

It happened some time ago but . I was in an
audience listening to a motivational speaker.
The speaker got out his wallet & pulled out a 500
Naira note. Holding it up, he asked, “Who wants
this 500 naira note?”
Lots of hands went up. Including mine. A slow chorus
began to build as people began to shout “Me!” “Me!” I
began to wonder who the lucky one would be who the
speaker would choose. And I also secretly wondered
(and I am sure others did too ) why he would simply
give away 500 naira. Even as the shouts of “I want it”
grew louder, I noticed a young woman running down the
aisle. She ran up onto the stage, went up to the speaker,
and grabbed the five 500 naira note from his hand.
“Well done, young lady,” said the speaker into the
microphone. The speaker simply say “Most of us just
sit and wait for good things to happen. That’s of no
use. You’ve got to make things happen. Make a move”
‘Simply thinking about doing something is of no use and
not gud enough’. Our lives are like that. We all see
opportunities around us. We all want the good things.
But the problem is we don’t take action. We all want the
500 naira notes on offer. But we don’t make the move.
We look at it longingly. Get up, and do something about

Hundred naira!” screamed the audience. He then
threw the note on the ground, stamped all over it
and picked up the note and asked one more

WHO Crowns Onitsha The Most Polluted City In The World

According to data collected by WHO between 2011 t0
2015, Onitsha, Anambra state is the World’s Most
Polluted City as air quality data collected there are
nearly twice as bad as notoriously polluted cities
(Kabul,Tehran and Beijing) and 30 times worse than that
of London.

Being a tropical city, Onitsha has over 1 million people
residing there with no proper waste disposal methods,
heavy traffic with low quality fuel coupled with emission
of poisonous gases.

Brazilian President Suspended For 6 Months

Brazilian President, Dilma Rouseff was suspended today
from office after a lengthy 20 hours debate and a vote of 55
to 22. She will step away for allegedly manipulating
government accounts to fund her previous electoral
campaign.
The Vice president will take over the affairs of the country
while the senate commences on impeachment procedures
against her.
She is however the Country’s first female President.

Facebook Considers Faster Connections , Launches Free Internet In Nigeria

Facebook is making real its promise of making the internet
accessible to the vast part of the world in the nearest future
by providing access to free internet data for all on the
strength of drones technology.
The leading technology company launched the Free Basics
service yesterday in Nigeria, a platform that will provide
access to mobile websites and services to internet users for
free. Unlike most parts of the world, Free Basics will rely on
the capacity of Telecom services operators in Nigeria to
offer more than 85 free services dedicated to health,
education, jobs, and finance to users.
This include Facebook Flex by Airtel Nigeria, which will allow
people to access a version of Facebook without data
charges.
Meanwhile, Facebook has announced that it is presently
working on improving the Terragraph code of the free WiFi
project in order to make it faster and more efficient. These
efforts aims at making 7 Giga Byte Per Seconds (GBPS)
data signal stronger and equally efficient in different parts
of the world. This follows the discovery that the connection
degrades when there’s a nearby object blocking its path.
Industry observers are of the opinion that the free internet
platform is capable of improving the data usage experience
of Nigerians especially in the areas of network quality,
pricing and coverage. This follows the incessant cries by
customers that value for money is not given by the present
service providers in the country.
However, there are fears that the development may cripple
the economy of Mobile Network Service Operators whose
business model is gradually migrating from voice calls to
data usage in an increasingly data-driven market. What is
left to be seen is if regulators will kill the project with
restrictions to the benefit of operators or allow it unfettered
access to their detriment. Already, Airtel allows free viewing
of Facebook, with restrictions to images, which you can only
view when you switch to the data mode.
