French football offices raided in case against Blatter

Offices of the French Football Federation have been
searched with documents seized in support of the
ongoing Swiss investigation into the former Fifa
president Sepp Blatter.
The search was carried out at the behest of Swiss
authorities in connection to the $2 million ‘disloyal
payment’ made out to former Uefa chief Michel Platini
in 2011.
Switzerland’s office of the attorney general said in a
statement: “Documents were seized in connection with the
suspected payment of 2m Swiss francs (£700,000) that is
inter alia the subject of the proceedings.”
Swiss prosecutors opened a criminal investigation into
Blatter on suspicion of criminal mismanagement and
misappropriation of funds in September.
Blatter and Platini have been banned from the game for
six years following an investigation by the Fifa Ethics
committee.
Both men have denied any wrongdoing and have carried
their appeals to the Court of Arbitration for Sports, Cas.
