Chile celebrating after winning a second successive Copa America title.
Lionel Messi’s hopes of winning the Copa America
title were dashed yet again as his team, Albiceleste of
Argentina fell 4-2 on penalties to Chile in the final of
the Copa America Centenario 2016 played in their
early hours of Monday.
Despite playing well and leading the team all the way
to the end, even after both sides were down to 10
men each from red cards, Lionel Messi contributed big
time to his team’s failure after ballooning his very
important spot kick.
After 120 minutes of regular and extra time ended
scoreless, and following Sergio Romero’s saving of
Chile’s first attempt from Arturo Vidal, Lionel Messi
stepped up to the spot and sent his penalty shot well
over the crossbar.
Claudio Bravo then saved a penalty from Argentina’s
Lucas Biglia and Francisco Silva stepped up and beat
Romero to seal the win for Chile.
During regular time, Gonzalo Higuain had nearly put
his team into the lead in the 21st minute after a
defensive error by Chile; the Napoli striker had a free
run at Bravo’s goal, but his chipped shot dribbled just
to the left of the goal.
In the 28th minute, Chile’s Marcelo Diaz received a
second yellow card for a foul on Messi and was sent
off leaving his team with 10 men.
Just before half-time it was Argentina’s turn to see
red, when defender Marcos Rojo was sent off for a
hard tackle from behind on Arturo Vidal.
The second half started slowly with both teams
playing cautiously after each lost a player in the first
half.
Argentina’s best chance didn’t come until the 84th
minute when substitute Sergio Aguero picked up a
loose ball and found himself wide open in the Chile
penalty area, but his shot was too high.
And so Messi returns to Argentina with empty hands
even after legend Diego Maradona had warned him
and his team that the trophy was their own to lose.

Emir Of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II Gives Touching Reaction To Domestic Violence
Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II has reacted to the
issue of domestic violence and his words will touch you.
Read below…
“Truth be told, a man wouldn’t want someone hitting his
daughter, so he shouldn’t hit someone else’s daughter.
When a man hits a woman, it gives him a measurement of
his control. He is not treating her with respect.
Instead of her being his equal, she allows him to place
himself above her while she becomes the peasant. And the
only reason why this happens is because those women
allow it.
The most important thing a father can do for his children is
to love their mother. There are many excuses men use to
justify hitting women, but none of them are legitimate.
Some would even go as far as saying, “That’s how I was
brought up. So this is normal.” This is NOT normal. It’s a
mental sickness that needs to be rectified & We need to act
on #GenderEquality against #DomesticViolence,” he wrote
on his Instagram page.

‘ Genevieve Nnaji Has Finally Paid Me’; Young Man Who Claimed The Actress Owed Him ₦18 , 000 Explains What Happened
It was in the news and all over the internet a couple of
days that star actress, Genevieve Nnaji allegedly owed a
young man the sum of N18,000 and refused to pay for
it.
The beautiful actress who didn’t like the whole public
drama decided to die it all down by paying the cash and
also putting up a cryptic post on her page. The young
man explained that the star actress bought a cloth from
the store where he works and paid N80,000 out of
N98,000 and promised to have her manager pay the
balance before the end of that day.
The young man further claimed that Genevieve Nnaji or
her manager didn’t show up for days and while his boss
threatened to sack him, he took to social media to cry
for help which had tons of people raining down insults
on him for being so petty. In a new post via his
Instagram page, he said the actress has since returned
it and had some really harsh words for him as well. He
furthermore explained that he declined an interview with
Pulse, as he has a lot of respect for the actress and only
wanted to get back the balance, nothing more. Below is
the story as shared by him on Instagram.
Let me still begin to thank you all especially
@instablog9ja and nairaland whose
publication and her sister blogs made it
possible for Aunty Genny to be alerted.
People have so insulted me for days now
over this. But how can I blame them?.
Genny and her manager Harry and two
ladies came to our shop today, returned the
cloth and paid the balance and left with very
harsh words that made me know I will barely
last a few days at work.
Genny. I really never wished to go public,
but my boss threatened me with sack that’s
why I acted that way. I love Genny. Am a
huge fan of hers, why will I want to taint her
image. I love her, even if am given the
chance now, I will marry her. See what truly
happened. Genevieve came to our shop last
week, i wasnt really excited because i have
seen her a couple of times, saw a gown and
liked it, my boss was sitting at her usual
corner, so I attended to her. I told her the
gown is 98k, she said she’s with 80, but her
manager harry, will get me my 18k before
the evening and she’s not with her credit
card. I never bothered cos I felt the amount
balance is nothing to her, waited till
evening, days and she or her manager never
showed up. Anytime the manager drives past
our shop with her inside, I try waving them
down but they do drive pass. Am just glad I
got the money back today.Though she has
blocked me on her IG page and called me a
pig. Even pulse called me for an interview, I
declined it cos I need just my balance and
nothing more. Thank you

“How Impersonator Almost Ruined My Career” – Wizkid
Popular pop star, Ayodeji Balogun, a.k.a. Wizkid, has
commended the Lagos State police command for
redeeming his image before his international clients and
arresting a 19-year-old fraudster who ripped
prospective clients abroad of their hard earned money.
“I am very thankful to the Nigeria police for what they
did for me. The case has been going on for a while now,
I thank God we have been able to arrest one of the
suspects. We would pursue this case to the court and
ensure we get justice.
“The actions of these fraudsters have affected my
business worldwide. I still have two cases pending in
New York, United States now. There was a particular
case of a $45,000 that was collected from a promoter in
USA by these fraudsters using my name. There is
another case of $25,000.
I am happy my name is being cleared and I want
justice.
“The situation has affected me psychologically because
I was being accused of taking money I knew nothing
about. The press also did not believe me so that
dampened my morale,” the singer said.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai
Owoseni, few weeks ago revealed that a 19-year-old
girl, who for long had been posing as Wizkid on social
media, had been arrested.
The teenager was said to have duped many people,
including students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG)
before she was arrested. Among her victims were two
people living overseas. The money was over $53,000,
equivalent of about N10.4 million.
According to Owoseni, the suspect, who is a student of
one of the universities in the country, was arrested after
Wizkid reported the case to the police command
complaining that someone was impersonating him and
duping unsuspecting persons.
The suspect opened a Facebook account in Wizkid’s
name and displayed the artiste picture. He started
chatting with friends on Facebook, pretending to be
Wizkid.

Presh Should Stop Wasting His Time And Retrace His Steps - Kcee
Kcee in a recent interview talked about why his former
label mate and partner, Presh should stop wasting his
time doing music.
According to Kcee,
“Presh story is deep and emotional. It is long and I might
not want to go too deep into it. I would just say that
whatever that is happening to him is where he wants to be.
He can get out of where he is. There is no way you can eat
your cake and have it. It’s a proverb. But I think he needs
to see everybody around him as his brother. If you are
hating, beefing, you are wasting your time. Invest that time
into something positive, that is just the message.”
“He is my friend. If I tell you how I met him and how we
started the group till we got to where we got to, it will take
time. One thing I know for sure is that God will always pay
you good for good.
It might take time. Most of my peers that we started music
with, I cannot even remember them because they are no
more in the scene. I am not saying it because I have more
talent than them but I think the little thing I’m doing, God is
just blessing me. Presh needs to retrace his steps, pray to
God, maybe he will get success.”

Genevieve Nnaji Reacts To N 18, 000 Debt Allegation Leveled Against Her
Yesterday, a young lad accused Genevieve of owing the
boutique he works for, a ridiculous amount of 18,000.
He claimed the actress purchased a dress of 98,000
naira but paid 80,000 naira and promised to balance the
remaining amount but never did.
According to him, he tried reaching the actress many
times but there was no favorable response and he had
no other option than to come public.
Anyway, attention seekers are springing up daily, and
this young dude seems to be one, ever since the
allegation surfaced online, the actress hasn’t said a
word about it.
But today, it seems the actress who might feel
disgusted over this silly allegation took to her page to
post a quote that formally addressed the incident.
It says: “don’t ever wrestle with a pig, you will both get

Buhari Shames Nigeria By Taking Treatment Abroad For Ear Infection – Medical Doctor Writes Open Letter To Buhari
There have been influxes of reactions on Monday over
President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to travel to
London to receive treatment for his ear infection. One of the
people, who have opened up vehemently on their feelings is
a medical expert, Dr. Osahon Enabulele, who underwent a
successful surgical operation for his ear infection in Nigeria
earlier this year.
He has condemned President Buhari’s decision to seek
treatment for his persistent ear infection at a London
hospital despite the presence of over 250 ear, nose and
throat (ENT) specialists in the country and a National Ear
Centre in Kaduna State.
In an open letter to the president, Mr. Enabulele described
his president’s decision to go on a 10-day medical vacation
to London as a mockery of the change mantra of his
administration and that of the professional competence of
Nigerian doctors.
The president’s trip was informed by the advice of his
personal physician and an Abuja-based ENT specialist, who
recommended further evaluation of his condition.
While admitting that the nature of the persistent ear
infection was not revealed in the statement announcing the
president’s decision to seek medical help abroad, Mr.
Enabulele commended Buhari for disclosing his medical
condition, an action he said is a departure from the practice
of leaders who hide their ailments.
“I am very constrained to state that this foreign medical trip
flies in the face of the federal government’s earlier
declaration of her resolve to halt the embarrassing
phenomenon of outward medical tourism, which by the end
of the year 2013, has led to a humongous capital flight of
about $1 billion, particularly from expenses incurred by
political and public office holders and their accompanying
aides, whose foreign medical trips, most of which are
unnecessary, were financed with tax payers’ resources,” he
emphasized.
Mr. Enabulele said he had variously, through his writings
and public lectures, advised Mr. Buhari to show leadership
by example by ensuring that he and members of his cabinet
use medical expertise and facilities available locally. This,
he said, is expressly stated in Section 46 of the National
Health Act, which seeks to address the abuse of resources
through frivolous foreign medical travels by political and
public office holders.
By opting for treatment abroad, Mr. Enabulele argued that
Mr. Buhari has frittered a big opportunity to give traction to
his vaunted change mantra. His action, he added, will not
inspire confidence in the country’s health sector, which he
said currently boasts medical experts on par with those in
foreign countries, if not even better.
“If the former Governor of Kogi State, Idris Wada, could
patronize Nigerian-trained medical experts and medical
facilities here in Nigeria when he unfortunately suffered a
fractured femur following a road traffic accident in 2013, I
see no reason why in 2016, Mr. President could not have
stayed back in Nigeria to attend to his ear infection,” Mr.
Enabulele contended.
The medical expert claimed that most public and political
office holders who seek foreign medical care are treated by
Nigerian-trained doctors, particularly in the United Kingdom,
which has over 3000 Nigerian-trained medical doctors, and
the United States of America, with over 5000. Most of these
foreign-based doctors, Mr. Enabulele added, relocated
abroad because of the government’s repeated failure to
address the various factors that make the local environment
difficult to work in.
“Available records show that in last year (2015) alone, 637
medical doctors emigrated due largely to poor working
conditions and health facilities, insecurity, unpredictable and
poor funding of the Residency Training Programme,
uncompetitive wages and job dissatisfaction,” he stated.
The medical expert suggested that the president should
have used his current medical situation to kick-start the
government’s plan to revamp the country’s health care
system by providing required medical equipment to enable
locally-trained trained ENT specialists to treat him and later
use the same facilities to attend to other Nigerians with
similar conditions.
“In line with my patriotic commitment to the Nigerian dream,
I submitted myself for a highly skilled and successful ENT
surgical intervention conducted in Nigeria in the month of
April in 2016. As a trained medical specialist, I believe that
those ENT specialists and medical experts, and many others
in Nigeria, who handled my situation then are skilled
enough, and with the right equipment in place can handle
any complicated ENT problem in Nigeria,” Mr. Enabulele
said.

Etisalat In Trouble As COSON Dumps N 11bn Lawsuit At Its Doorstep
Within a month of filing an unprecedented 16 Billion Naira
law suit against telecommunications giant, MTN, Copyright
Society of Nigeria (COSON), the nation’s sole government
approved collective management organization for musical
works and sound recordings, has dragged Emerging
Markets Telecommunications Services Ltd, the parent
company of ETISALAT before the Federal High Court in
Lagos claiming about N11 Billion for copyright infringement.
Fully committed to its recent pledge of an unprecedented
showdown with copyright infringers and music copyright
royalty defaulters in Nigeria, COSON has not only asked the
court for seven different declarations of copyright
infringement against ETISALAT in its “Experience” or
“Flagship” Centres across the country; the various
ETISALAT ‘Road Shows’ in Nigeria; the different ETISALAT
Music Concerts, Festivals, Award Shows, Product
Activations and Corporate events; the ETISALAT
EASYTUNEZ platform; the ETISALAT CLOUD 9 Platform, etc,
the no-nonsense copyright collective management
organization has also demanded an account of all profits
made by ETISALAT, its agents, privies and servants from
the infringements of copyright in music belonging to COSON,
its members, affiliates and assignors.
With 20 distinct claims endorsed on the writ supported by a
45 paragraph Statement of Claim filed by Lagos Intellectual
property lawyer, Mr. Tochukwu Tagbo in Suit No. FHC/L/
CS/756/2016, COSON which also represents in Nigeria over
135 Collective Management Organizations from every part
of the world and the major international music labels such
as Universal, Warner Music, Sony Music, etc., has also
asked for a perpetual injunction restraining ETISALAT, its
agents, privies and servants from the continued
unauthorized copying, communication to the public,
streaming, selling, broadcasting, making available for
downloading and permitting the unauthorized performance
to the public and infringement of the copyright in the musical
works and sound recordings belonging to members,
affiliates and assignors of COSON.
Attaching numerous exhibits to the Statement of Claim,
COSON pleaded that the Government of President
Muhammed Buhari has identified the entertainment industry
as one of the key areas to be promoted in Nigeria to provide
good paying jobs for young people in the country; to reduce
crime and insurgency and boost the nation’s economy but
that the activities of the likes of ETISALAT are set to torpedo
the very good intentions of the government. COSON also
stated that as a result of the refusal of ETISALAT to pay
royalties for the musical works and sound recordings
deployed in its operations, the government of the Federal
Republic of Nigeria has been denied several millions of naira
being Value Added Tax (VAT) and other taxable income
accruable to the government from the royalties.
COSON also warned of its concern that in frustration with
the lawless behaviour of ETISALAT, individual right owners
in musical works and sound recordings may be forced to
take precipitate actions to protect their rights and this may
lead to breakdown in law and order.
Speaking on the robust actions being taken by COSON to
create a sustainable and strong music industry in Nigeria,
Chief Tony Okoroji, the Chairman of COSON, who is a well-
known former President of PMAN and one of Africa’s most
respected authorities on Intellectual Property rights said,
“Anyone who still thinks that COSON is joking needs to have
his or her head examined. We are committed to stamping
out the era of “monkey dey work, baboon dey chop” from
the Nigerian music industry and establish a transparent and
accountable industry in which everyone who invests his or
her talent or resources can rest assured that his or her
investment will be fully protected. We will not buckle under
pressure from anyone no matter how mighty. Recently, we
sued a federal government owned agency. We have gone to
court against a State government.
We have had to sue
Nigeria’s biggest bank, wrestle in court with Nigeria’s
biggest hotels and broadcast networks. At COSON, our
belief is that no one is above the law.
“Anyone familiar with COSON knows that if we say that we
are going to do something, we are going to do it. At COSON,
we are resolute that the labour of Nigerian musicians and
investors in the music industry who toil every day to make
people happy will no longer be in vain. They cannot make
people happy and be sad themselves. Anyone intending to
exploit their sweat to serve his own purpose has COSON to
deal with. We are not just fighting for individuals.
We are
fighting for the Nigerian nation. The recent crash in the price
of crude oil should make it clear to everyone that our nation
must change course. We can no longer afford to anchor the
future of our children and grandchildren on the vagaries of
the crude oil market. Our music and our movies in great
demand everywhere in the world must count for something.
They should contribute significantly to the nation’s GDP and
provide jobs for hundreds of thousands of our citizens. The
era of monkey dey work, baboon dey chop is over. We have
asked our lawyers to go on ‘rampage’. Our brief to them is
clear: there will be no untouchables and no sacred cows; no
retreat, no surrender”.
Also speaking on the matter, Songstress and COSON Board
Member, Azzezat Allen said ‘we have made a pledge to
thousands of members across the country that music must
pay. We have to keep that promise using every tool at our
disposal. COSON doesn’t ever go to court without serious
efforts in engaging the copyright defaulters. Sometimes you
just get this feeling that they are daring you to do your
worst. Eventually, we must let them know that we are not
playing games. What COSON says it will do, COSON will do’.

Moe Musa Packs Out Of JJC’ s House Over Funke Akindele
Leading musical video director, Moe Musa who has shot
several videos, used to live in the same building with
singer JJC who is said to be dating leading actress,
Funke Akindele .
Musa lived in the Boys Quarters’ of the house. Since the
romance between Funke and JJC started, Sunday Scoop
learnt that JJC, who is well entrenched in the
entertainment industry has not been very comfortable
with Musa’s presence as it might breach the privacy of
the lovers.
Therefore, Musa had to secure a better apartment in the
highbrow Lekki area to give the couple enough space.
He said this development has not caused a rift between
him and JJC whom he described as a brother.
Responding to Punch Newspaper’s telephone enquiries,
the cinematographer said his moving out was his
choice.
‘If I move out, it’s because I want to move
out; I am a man. Everybody has the right to
move out when they want to. JJC is my
family, he is my brother. If you are with your
brother and he is in a relationship, are you
not going to move?”
He also denied that he is in a relationship with
Chocolate City’s Victoria Kimani. “No I am not dating
her,” he said.
